The Heidelberg-based deep-tech company AMERIA AG has raised more than 60 million euros exclusively from private investors via the Companisto Business Angel Network.

Heidelberg/Berlin, 30 September 2026 – AMERIA AG completed its latest funding round via the Companisto Business Angel Network on 18 September 2026. The deep-tech company secured over €10 million. This brings the total raised by the Heidelberg-based company across several rounds to €60 million from more than 4,000 private investors, making it the largest deep-tech development ever financed via a business angel network in the German-speaking world. For the Companisto Business Angel Network, this is the first funding round within its own network to apply the EU prospectus threshold raised in June 2026.
The round comes at a time when Europe is engaged in intense debate about its technological capacity to act. In June 2026, the European Commission presented a package on technological sovereignty that focuses on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and open source. However, the funding side remains largely unaffected by this: the German venture capital market is driven by a handful of large funding rounds and international capital; according to KfW data, over 75 per cent of the funds provided in the first quarter of 2026 came from abroad.
AMERIA is driving forward the issue of European sovereignty from a technical perspective with its MAVERICK AI product. It combines AMERIA’s immersive user experience with AI that runs locally on the device and does not require constant cloud synchronisation. Since February 2026, Sony has also been marketing an interactive 3D display worldwide, developed in collaboration with AMERIA.
“Sovereignty starts with capital. If you want to keep a key technology in Europe, you must also be able to finance it in Europe. That is precisely what our investors have made possible. Many of them have been with us for years. During this time, we have launched a product globally in partnership with Sony and are now taking the next step with MAVERICK AI. Without this network, this journey would not have been possible.”
Albrecht Metter, Founder and CEO, AMERIA AG
For Companisto, the successful completion of the AMERIA AG funding round underlines the importance of long-term investments in technology-driven growth companies. This enables private business angels to participate in the development and scaling of complex technologies across multiple investment phases.
“AMERIA AG is an example of what a business angel network can achieve over the years. The fact that a German deep-tech company has reached this scale without traditional VC structures and without capital from outside Europe is a positive sign for Europe as a funding hub.”
Sarah Buge, COO of Companisto
